Artist in Residence 2023 | Parc at Wesley Chapel | Tampa, FL
Taylor Smith
“Dreamweaver”
American Landmark: Artists in Residence is excited to announce our newest resident artist, Taylor Smith, also known as Dreamweaver, who is beginning residency at the property Parc at Wesley Chapel in Tampa, Florida. Taylor is a street artist and muralist with a combined background in fine art, graphic design, and creating art in public spaces.
Taylor was originally born in Dallas Texas, but also grew up in Portland, Oregon and Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Georgia College and State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Fine Art in 2017, and set her sights on sunny Florida. With nearly five years of experience exhibiting her work outside the walls of traditional galleries and venues, her passion for public art has become her primary focus.
Taylor’s work aims to invoke a sense of reverence for our natural world - often featuring portraiture, vivid patterns, and striking color combinations. Her studio practice is based in the vibrant city of Saint Petersburg, Florida and includes creating large scale murals, original canvas work, live painting activations, and collaborating with artists, communities, and brands both local and nationwide.
“I have always had a connection with nature and felt awestruck by wildlife. Since moving to Florida in 2018 I have been immensely influenced by the abundance of flora, fauna, and wildlife. My evolving style integrates expressive abstraction and realism to capture the beauty of life through light and color.”
Community engagement and live entertainment has been a huge stepping stone in Taylor’s art career. When she is not live painting at festivals or concerts, or teaching the basics of spray painting and mural art to youth communities, she can be found working with Parc’s former AIR Austin “Slim” Gee on their project @kindmindsart - an ongoing collaboration rooted in “Art for the People.”
