“I am hoping to use this opportunity to bring to life the variety of artistic ideas I have for the urban environment. What I am particularly interested in is the way visual arts form a symbiotic relationship with the built environment and how architecture and graphic and fine arts create aesthetically appealing environments collaboratively.
Since I come from an architectural and liberal arts background, the work included has architectural or intellectual overtones. However, I am intentionally attempting to break away from stereotypical ways of representation in order to create visually challenging results which in turn foster an unorthodox cognitive perception of the piece and trigger deeper intellectual processes while assimilating it. These methods involve the application to fine arts techniques and interactive processes on a bigger urban scale.
I am proposing that I use principles of graphic design, VR and interactive design to the Midtown 24 community, hence creating engaging and innovative aesthetics as well as interactive experiences. These could mix visual design with other media – sound, electronics and/or light – to create truly challenging experiences using the principle of multidimensionality, which would actively involve the community in the process of creation of the environment.”
