Jacoub Reyes Unveiled Monumental Woodblock Print
"Ornamental Figurations in Motion (Innocence, Love, and Joy)"
Jacoub Reyes unveiled his monumental woodblock print. The South Florida Cultural Consortium prize winner completed an extraordinary new piece titled "Ornamental Figurations in Motion (Innocence, Love, and Joy)." This monumental woodblock print was a breathtaking 10x10 feet in size, making it the largest woodblock print ever made in South Florida.
Jacoub's masterpiece showcased the intricate beauty of native and invasive plant species commonly found in South Florida and the Caribbean. His dedication and artistic prowess were evident in the four months he spent meticulously carving this work by hand.
This stunning print was the largest single print that Jacoub or IS Projects had ever printed by hand. Its sheer scale and detailed depiction of plant life celebrated our region's vibrant and diverse ecosystem.
We invited everyone to the gallery reception at Midtown 24 Art Studio on June 27 from 6:30-7:30 pm to witness this magnificent piece in person. This event marked the culmination of Jacoub’s time as an artist in residence at Midtown 24 and was made possible with the support of the Broward County Cultural Division.
